16,5 mio. BIOMAP will develop and bring to market a technique for soil pollution mapping that can save a large part of the spending on pollution mapping which for the Danish society alone is approx. €27 mill. yearly. With this technique, a site can be mapped at a cost several times less compared to conventional drilling and much faster. The proven scientific basis for the technique is electric currents created by microorganisms that degrade pollution. Pilot investigations have been promising. In BIOMAP we will make a thorough verification and development of "Biomapping" in a range of site types and conditions. The final goal of BIOMAP is to commercialize pollution mapping services and instruments.

11,3 mio. We want to improve infant formula to mimic breast milk more closely. Over 150 different human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) exist. They are crucial for infant health and development, but absent from infant formula. Glycom A/S produces two HMOs industrially by fermentation, but alternative technologies are required to broaden the portfolio. This can be done by enzymatic transglycosylation, a technology refined at DTU Bioengineering. Our combined efforts create value in healthier formula-fed infants and expansion in Danish knowledge-based industry (>200 jobs). Estimated market value creation is 2bn euros/year. Glycom A/S are HMO production experts making result implementation straightforward.

7,1 mio. The regenerative capacity of stem cells including Adipose Derived Regenerative Cells (ADRCs) is widely accepted, however their mechanism of action (MoA) is not defined. We have identified a stromal cell population (CD31+ cells) that dose-dependently correlate with the clinical effect in erectile dysfunction and lymphedema trials. Using multiple in vitro and in vivo assays and phase I trials, we will test the hypothesis that CD31+ cells are likely to be the major player behind the regenerative effects of ADRCs by understanding the CD31+ cells and the host reaction to transplantation. We have formed a company, patented the CD31+ cells, and will test GMP grade CD31+ cells in phase I trials.

31,8 mio. H2 produced by renewable energy (RE) is already needed but costly. Haldor Topsoe has identified a stepping stone approach for a cost-effective introduction of electrolysis in so-called hybrid NH3 plants and other niche markets. Economic analysis shows that efficiency of the electrolysis plant is key for the total plant cost. SOEC is the most efficient electrolysis technology available, but the scale not ready for multi-MW plants.
The current project addresses this; making the SOEC technology scalable and with its superior efficiency make it the preferred electrolysis technology of the future. Systems will be designed in a parallel EUDP project and followed by a demo NH3 plant by 2025

15,2 mio. An efficient, scalable and affordable electrolyzer technology is paramount in the green transition. The project will make that possible by developing a new electrolyte membrane that will enable the inexpensive alkaline electrolyzer to become as efficient at the best and very expensive PEM electrolyzers. This new generation technology will be manufactured without any noble or scares materials. It will thus be unlimited scalable and capable of meeting the huge demand for energy storage and conversion to fuel of a future sustainable energy system. The competitive technology will have a strong Danish business case and export potential.
