The Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership)

We use artificial intelligence (AI) to translate the content on our website. This web page has been machine translated. If there are any uncertainties, please refer to the Danish text.

The Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership) aims to empower the clean energy transition and contribute to the EU's goal of becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, by pooling national and regional funding for a broad variety of technologies and system solutions required to make the transition. The CETPartnership focus on 7 thematic Transition Initiatives (TRIs). Innovation Fund Denmark (IFD) and EUDP have divided funding of Danish partners in the 7 TRI between us.

Who?

Consortia may consist of partners from organizations such as universities, companies, industry organisations, local/regional governments, research organizations and NGOs. Some Call modules (TRIs) specify additional requirements or restrictions regarding the types of partners to be included. In addition, national funding agencies might have specific national call conditions and requirements. IFD encourages Danish academic partners in application to include Danish non-academic public and private organizations as partners in the applications in order to increase impact in Denmark. If two projects are rated equally high on the common ranking list IFD will prioritize our national co-funding to the project with the highest impact in Denmark.

What?

Grants from IFD are administered in accordance with the EU Commission Block Exemption regulation for state aid (GBER). For more information about the Danish funding rules, funding rates and eligibility criteria please see IFD's Guidelines: International Programs co-funded by Innovation Fund Denmark on the IFD webpage. After the call deadline each Danish participant will receive an invitation to upload the international application on IFD's national e-grant platform. NB: If the international application is not uploaded on e-grant, IFD cannot conduct the national eligibility check of the application, which will result in an administrative ineligibility declaration.

How much?

The total call budget for all participating countries is approximately 140 M EUR. The allocated funding from Denmark is approx. 2M EUR divided between EUDP and Innovation Fund Denmark on the various TRIs (see sections above). Max funding to one Danish partner is EUR 300,000 (2.25 MDKK). The total maximum for all Danish partners, if the project has two or more Danish partners, is EUR 500,000 (3.75 MDKK), but still maximum EUR 300,000 to one.

Objective of CETPartnership and the 7 Transitional Initiatives

The CETPartnership aims to empower the clean energy transition and contribute to the EU's goal of becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050, by pooling national and regional RDTI funding for a broad variety of technologies and system solutions required to make the transition. In that sense, the CETPartnership establishes the following 7 Transition Initiatives (TRIs), as the thematic configurations of CETPartnership funding partners in order to work together on: Organizing target group oriented stakeholder management and communication in the field Developing thematic modules for the annual joint calls Implementing accompanying activities on knowledge management and maximizing impact. In Denmark EUDP and IFD have divided funding of Danish partners depending on the TRIs they are engaged in.

TRI1: Optimized integrated European net-zero emissions energy system (EUDP)

TRI2: Enhanced zero emission power technologies (IFD)

TRI3: Enabling climate neutrality with storage technologies, hydrogen and renewable fuels, and CCU/CCS (EUDP AND IFD) - NB! US Department of Energy Co-fund national labs in this TRI

TRI4: Efficient zero emission Heating and Cooling Solutions (IFD)

TRI5: Integrated regional energy systems (EUDP)

TRI6: Integrated industrial energy systems (EUDP)

TRI7: Integration in the built environment (IFD)

The TRIs are presented in more detail on the CETPartnership website and a detailed description of the CETPartnership challenges is available in the SRIA .

US Department of Energy (DoE) has allocated $5 mio. to projects addressing TRI3 topics. DoE funds 9 National labs participation in the call. IFD encourage Danish applicants to contact the National labs for further information:
