New space theme in Grand Solutions and the Industrial Research Program

New funds from the Research Reserve 2025 create a new space theme in the Innovation Fund's Grand Solutions and Industrial Researcher Programme.

Denmark is now investing purposefully in space technology and space-based innovation.

With funds from the research reserve for 2025, Innovation Fund Denmark is launching a new space theme in both Grand Solutions and the Industrial Researcher Program.

The theme will support research and innovation projects that develop and use technologies with space as their focal point – from satellite data to climate monitoring, from space-based communications to green transition and national security, etc.

- Innovation Fund Denmark's partnership programs, Grand Solutions and Industrial Researcher, provide applicants with good opportunities for collaborations between different actors in the value chain related to the space area, and we have noticed a good interest in applying for the call, and a fine quality in the applications, says Martin Søndergaard, head of Grand Solutions.

Part of the work with critical technologies

The new theme will be part of Innovation Fund Denmark's work with critical technologies and will support the development of the entire value chain – from talent development and basic research to demonstration and implementation in Danish companies and society.

At the same time, Danish participation in the European Space Agency (ESA) is increasing, and a new national space program is being established, in which Innovation Fund Denmark plays a central role.

Facts:

• The National Space Program is one of the initiatives in the government's strategy for space research and innovation.
• A total of DKK 231 million is allocated to the space area via the research reserve.
• Of this, Innovation Fund Denmark will allocate DKK 68.3 million in Grands solutions and the Industrial Research Program will allocate DKK 10 million in the fall of 2025.
• In phase 1 of Grand Solutions 2025, Innovation Fund Denmark received 31 applications, of which 11 have been invited to submit a full phase 2 application.
• The new space theme can be applied for through both Grand Solutions and the Industrial Researcher Program. Although Innovation Fund Denmark's other programs do not have a specific space theme, you can still apply for the programs with a case that is within space.
