ECSEL Joint Undertaking has the mission to keep Europe at the forefront of integrating electronic components and system in industrial products and systems. The ECSEL programme is EUs largest joint technology programme (JTP) within information and communication technology with an annual funding budget of app. €325 mill. provided by EU and the participating national funding agencies.

“Electronics Components and Systems for European Leadership” Joint Undertaking (ECSEL JU) will mainly support capital-intensive actions such as pilot lines or large scale demonstrators at higher Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5 to level 8. 

ECSEL funds both industrial driven R&D activities (RIA) as well as capital intensive innovation activities (IA) such as pilot lines, demonstrators and application. Compared to most other international projects ECSEL projects are very or extremely large projects with maximum of 50 participants and a max EU co-funding of €12 Mill per project for RIA projects and 90 participants and a max EU co-funding of €50 Mill per project for IA projects.

ECSEL projects are in particular addressing the needs of large industry and research institution supporting applied research project.

Joint call ESCEL and IMI

ECSEL and IMI opens a joint call 1. September 2020 with call deadline 1. December 2020

Two of the European public-private partnerships, ECSEL and IMI (Innovative Medicine Initiative) are actively exploring concrete collaborations by having a joint call. The focus for the collaboration will be on Next Generation Digital Technologies for Clinical Trials at Home.
