45.7 mill. Orbex is developing an end-to-end space launch system comprising Europe’s first reusable launch vehicle, the two-stage microlauncher called 'Prime', and a dedicated spaceport to target the huge new global small satellite market, providing a critical enabling technology for a large number of space-based big data applications contingent on satellite launch. Through innovative design & manufacturing of bio-fuel rocket engines in Denmark, Orbex is delivering a world-leading, green solution for low-cost, regular access to space.
Orbex's innovative rocket engine designs feature novel and unique technology that reduces emissions by up to 90% using new fuels and enables launch vehicle recovery and reusability. Our goal is to create a centre of excellent technical leadership in green, modern propulsion system design & production in Denmark.
This proposal builds upon the state-of-the-art design and additive manufacturing (AM) capability developed by Orbex under Innobooster, coupled with Force Technologies novel X-ray inspection capability matured under ESA GSTP, to develop and incorporate a robust testing and quality assurance regime for large scale AM parts, which is at the core of Orbex's industrialisation programme for reusable rocket engines. It is anticipated that the proposal will span the formal engine qualification phase up to first test launch and subsequent transitioning to significant industrialisation of engine production in Denmark to support regular launch operation.

54.1 mill. Increased digitalisation is key to combatting climate change, with potentially 10-60% reductions of energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The challenge to harvesting these benefits is the state of digital technologies today, where hard physical limits of miniaturisation of electronic chips have been met. This in turn has brought with it a saturation of serial data speeds, and a looming explosion in overall internet energy consumption. It is thus increasingly urgent to develop a new greener internet.
So, to ensure the essential future digitalisation, the solution is to build a better critical communications infrastructure that provides higher data capacities, offers greater accessibility, supports critical functions, ensures secure online interactions, and is more energy-efficient. To bring these features to the whole network infrastructure, GreenCOM is structured as an innovation platform forming an ecosystem of companies, universities, industrial associations and with direct links to authorities. GreenCOM will develop 30 specific technologies supporting the overall network, ranging from physical chips and laser sources, over network protocols, to internet services and a green ICT certificate. 91% of the technologies are tech transfer, with industrial partners ready to implement them. GreenCOM expects to reduce the energy consumption in DK with about 11%, and increase revenue for partners with 358 MDKK, and generate 183 FTE jobs whilst doing so.

11.1 mill. A large portion of the total energy consumption is used for industrial heating, mostly provided by natural gas and coal. This project will contribute to carbon neutrality by promoting the electrification of industrial heating. The most efficient heat processes require radiofrequency generators which are in turn inefficient because they are based on old technology. Based on previous promising results, we will utilize new concepts to develop two full-scale demonstrators. The demonstrators will outperform existing technology and will be tested and employed for production at Topsil, on machines for producing ultra-pure silicon crystals, and at Kallesoe, on machines for producing cross-laminated wood. Our technology will remove a large part of the existing economical barriers that have hindered RF technology from being economically attractive. Moreover, these two applications also play strategic societal roles in reaching carbon neutrality. Ultra-pure silicon is required for the manufacturing of essential equipment for the general electrification of our society, and cross-laminated wood enables the sustainable development of civil infrastructure as a substitute for cement. Considering that RF industrial heating is powered by electrical energy and that Denmark exports wind energy and wind-energy technologies, investing in RF industrial heating is a way of supporting Danish energy independence while promoting national industry and the development of renewable energy sources.

14.7 mill. Protein demand for both human food and animal feed increases, and the EU is dependent on import of 30 million tons soy each year. Therefore, there is a rising demand for highly sustainable, and locally sourced alternative proteins from green and blue biomass. The purpose of the GreenImPro project is to develop and deliver an industrially relevant and scalable process for producing high quality white protein products to be used in food applications and aquafeed, based on raw materials of alfalfa, white clover, and sea lettuce, in co-production with a “green” protein product for monogastric animals as pigs and poultry.
The barriers are the color and antinutritional factors (ANFs), which we aim to overcome by combining a mild heat treatment with microfiltration using a novel vibrational membrane technology. The goal is to optimize the process
in a demo biorefinery facility at AU, and upscale to commercial scale at BioRefine.
Systematic iterative evaluation of the content of ANFs and color will feed back to the process for optimization to secure quality. Protein digestibility will be analyzed in trout and rats, while functional properties and sensory analysis will be used to optimize for implementation in food applications. GreenImPro will facilitate a creation of novel and local-sourced protein ingredients in an interplay between producers and buyers. Thus, strengthen both economics, future prevalence of green biorefineries, and positive climate and environmental effects.
