Formålet med PhD-projektet er at undersøge, om der er additiv eller synergistisk effekt af GLP-1 og FGF21 ved at anvende innovative metoder til at belyse potentialet ved at kombinere de to stoffer i behandlingen af non-alkoholisk steatohepatitis. Novo Nordisk har monoterapi samt kombination af GLP-1- og FGF21-analoger i fase IIb kliniske forsøg, dog kendes virkningsmekanismen ikke. Målet med projektet er at afkode mekanismen i hjernen samt leveren for at understøtte den kliniske udvikling.
