862.000 Havvand indeholder mange ioner som indebærer fare for reduktion i levetiden for armeret beton som bruges i infrastrukturprojekter. Reduktion af CO2-emissioner i betonindustrien har drevet udvikling af cement typer med lavere CO2-aftryk, dog skal deres holdbarhed afklares under særlige forhold. Her bidrager projektet til afklaring om thaumasitdannelse i beton til fx sænketunneller kan undgås ved nye CO2-reducerede cementtyper, og dermed bidrage til 'grønnere' infrastrukturprojekter.
