Why does the Innovation Fund postpone and adjust two Industrial Researcher calls?
The political agreement on the Innovation Fund's funds in 2021 has changed the fund's framework for allocating grants.
In 2021, the Funds' funds will be implemented within three themes determined by the parliamentary parties: Ambitious and lasting green research initiatives, Lifescience, Health and Welfare Technology, and Technology and Innovation that can maintain production and jobs in Denmark
Therefore, the Fund does not implement the two open Industrial Researcher notices, which according to the plan should otherwise have been open for applications from 3 December 2020 and with a deadline of 7 January 2021.
These are specifically the call 'Industrial PhD: All areas (private sector)' and the call 'Industrial Postdoc: All areas (private sector), which the Fund is therefore forced to postpone until the spring of 2021 and adapt to the political priorities .
The exact dates and elaboration of the thematic areas will be announced on the Fund's website before Christmas.
Has the entire first application round for Business Researcher in 2021 been postponed?
No. The call ‘Industrial PhD: Greenland and the Faroe Islands (private sector)’ will be implemented as planned, as separate funds have been set aside for this in the political agreement on the distribution of the Research Reserve 2021.
The "open" calls, however, the fund is forced to postpone and adjust as a result of the political agreement on the fund's funds for next year.
I have written an application for one of the two postponed calls. Is it wasted work?
No, you can most likely submit your application by spring.
The postponed Industrial Researcher calls will be re-posted in the spring of 2021, where they will be adapted to the political priorities. If your application fits within the themes in the new calls, you can apply at the next application round.
If your application concerns other areas, you may need to either write a new application or adjust it to suit the politically decided thematic areas: Ambitious and lasting green research initiatives, Lifescience, Health and Welfare Technology and Technology and Innovation that can maintain production and jobs in Denmark
When is it possible to apply again?
The next application round is expected to open in March with a deadline in April. A final date is expected to be announced before Christmas. Stay tuned to the Innovation Fund's website.
What are the politically prioritized issues within which the Innovation Fund must implement its funds?
In the agreement on the research reserve 2021, the politicians have identified three themes that form the framework for the Innovation Fund's investments in the future.
The themes are ‘Ambitious and lasting green research initiatives’, ‘Lifescience, Health and Welfare Technology’ and ‘Technology and innovation that can maintain production and jobs in Denmark’
How the themes will be implemented in practice in the guidelines in the Innovation Fund's programs and notices has not yet been determined.
A more detailed elaboration of the selected thematic areas will be available before Christmas.
