The project must be based on a collaboration with a research organization from one of the selected focus countries in the application opportunity. Innovation Fund Denmark invests between DKK 2 and DKK 8 million per project. We can cover up to 90 percent of the total project costs, depending on the project's organization and budget.
The investment can cover relevant costs directly linked to the project's research and innovation activities. This includes:
-
Salaries for project employees
-
Equipment and materials
-
Travel, accommodation and external services
-
Networking activities such as workshops and conferences (however, a maximum of 10 percent of the budget)
A project under Global Research Collaborations must have a duration of between 2 and 4 years. This ensures enough time to build a solid foundation for international collaboration.
The application must be submitted digitally via the portal www.e-grant.dk . The Danish research institution acts as the main applicant and is responsible for the actual submission and dialogue with Innovation Fund Denmark.
Please note that the e-grant system is in "read-only" mode during weeks 28 and 29 due to maintenance. This means that you will not be able to submit your application to e-grant during weeks 28 and 29, so plan your application process well in advance.
The deadline for submission is September 3, 2026 at 12:00 (noon) CET.
If you need guidance, Innovation Fund Denmark regularly holds webinars and Q&A sessions, which you can register for via our website.
Your application must present a well-defined project that addresses the following elements:
-
Strategic relevance: A description of how the project contributes to at least one of the strategically critical technology areas.
-
International collaboration: Documentation of the collaboration with one of the selected focus countries in the application opportunity, including the partner's specific participation in the project.
-
Assessment criteria: The application must clearly address the project's quality (the high level of research), its impact (the value creation for Denmark) and execution (how the project is implemented effectively).
-
Budget: A statement of expected expenses for, for example, wages, equipment and materials.
For a detailed list of requirements and attachments, it is recommended to read the full guidelines for the program.
The assessment takes place in several steps to ensure a thorough and fair assessment:
-
Screening: First, the application undergoes an administrative check to ensure that all formal requirements are met.
-
Professional assessment: A professional committee then assesses the application. In some cases, external experts are involved for further evaluation.
-
Party consultation: If an external evaluation is carried out, the applicant will be given the opportunity to comment on it in a party consultation process.
-
Decision: The committee makes the final decision based on the overall assessment.
Applications are assessed by Grand Solutions' expert committee. If deemed necessary, external experts in the relevant fields may be involved to review the application.
The application must be submitted electronically via the portal www.e-grant.dk.
You will be notified of the decision directly via www.e-grant.dk . Here you will receive either a grant letter or a rejection of your application.
